Nuts & Bolts

Rhythm of Meeting. Typically, spiritual direction occurs on a monthly basis yet any rhythm of meeting is possible.  Whatever the frequency, establishing a regular rhythm is important.

Payment. I accept payment over Venmo, PayPal or Zelle. Please send payment within 24 hours following our appointment.  My Venmo username is @Heather-Swanson-9. See Services & Rates page for sliding scales.

Onsite & Remote Sessions.  I offer onsite spiritual direction for local directees and remote spiritual direction via Zoom. While remote spiritual work may sound distant, this platform has served as an invaluable resource for directees during the pandemic and beyond.

Confidentiality & Code of Conduct.  All content within a spiritual direction session is kept confidential.  Directees are encouraged to review the Guidelines for Ethical Conduct published by Spiritual Directors International.

Sacred Space.   Find a quiet and confidential space, free of distractions for our sessions.  I encourage bringing a meaningful object (a candle, a stone) to mark the space as sacred as we listen intentionally for God.

Rescheduling.  If you need to reschedule a session, inform me as soon as possible and request to reschedule.  If you need to cancel unexpectedly within 24 hours of a scheduled session, let me know via text 267-584-7538, and send $25 payment for the last minute schedule change.

Invoices.  If you are clergy or a seminary student, you might want to inquire whether your church or denomination would cover the cost of spiritual direction (in part or in full), since it is a resource that supports your pastoral work.

Check-In.  Following a few months of meeting, I will invite you to reflect on your spiritual direction experience.  This provides an opportunity to track your spiritual growth, and to touch base about our director-directee relationship.  I will invite periodic reflection of this nature over the course of our work together.
